Woodrow Wilson believed that if all the countries were part of the league of nations, wars would be much less common, if not entirely eradicated. The entire idea wasn't bad, embargos and sanctions against anyone who began violence would have a non-violent way to make wars more unappealing. Collective security wasn't a bad idea, but the execution left a little to be desired. The three big countries with a reason to be included: Germany, Russia, and the US, were left out. The US had an army to "bully" the countries who would start a war, as well as being the largest warmonger in the world. Russia and Germany were both known for starting wars, and thus had the most reason to be included in the League of Nations. Not only leaving the three countries out of the League, but making the consequences very light. Trade embargos and sanctions could be wholly avoided by simply leaving the League, which had no consequences, and as such you were no longer bound by their rules. Ultimately, the League had very little bark and no bite. The laws weren't well executed, and had no force behind them.
The Big three, David Lloyd George, Woodrow Wilson, and George Clemenceau all had different goals for the peace treaty. George Clemenceau wanted massive war reperation money from Germany due to the huge damages france had taken during the war, trenches, bombing. Woodrow Wilson wanted to be much more lenient towards them, little or no war reparation funds, larger armies, and more trade opportunities. David Lloyd George was in the middle, but due to the massive suffering he sided more with George than with Woodrow. Originally, the leader of Italy was part of the agreement, but he felt cheated out of land he was promised at the beginning of the alliance.
My name is Taylor Blue Tena Clarke, I enjoy reading, and using my computer. I live on Saltspring Island, one of the Gulf Islands off the coast of British Columbia. I am in grade 11 at Shawnigan Lake School. I spent my summer house sitting, helping my mom at the Farmers Market, and playing video games. Next summer I plan to work at one of the studios on the island, helping them serve the food that they make, as well as working in their store. I had planned to volunteer at the local library, but wasn't able to make it, to my disappointment. Last year I spent half of my summer sailing around Ganges Harbor, earning my bronze 5, which is the highest sailing certificate available from the sailing club on Saltspring. Unfortunately, due to an issue in scheduling, I wasn't able to attend an official race to complete the course, so I was unable to receive my certificate. The rest of my time over the summer was spent in the lakes, pools, and ocean.
